Web Developer
DAN is seeking an individual to handle full life-cycle web development. This includes the design, implementation and support of front-end web applications.

Work performed:

  • Write, update and maintain web applications to support business needs using ASP, ASP.NET, JavaScript/VB Script, ADO, IIS and MS SQL Server.
  • Provide support to end users in the use of web sites and web applications.
  • Troubleshoot errors associated with web technology and use analytic thinking to solve problems.
  • Coordinate with database programmers and provide assistance with database development as needed.

Education:

  • BA or BS degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in development of complex web-based applications using ASP, ASP.NET, JavaScript/VBScript, SQL.
  • Ability to understand T-SQL syntax for retrieving, updating and inserting data.
  • Knowledge of website design best practices.
  • Experience with graphical design tools, such as Macromedia Fireworks, Photoshop and Flash.
  • Visual creativity and expertise in Web visual design
  • Knowledge of browser display differences and experience in coding around them.
  • Thoroughness and an eye for detail.
  • Eagerness to learn, share, and apply new skills and trends.
  • Team player with good communication skills.


Director of Business Development & Strategy
DAN’s Director of Business Development & Strategy is primarily responsible for driving the development and implementation of new strategies, partnerships, products and services to support DAN’s Mission and increase brand awareness and growth. This position will also oversee Information Management and Integrated Communications, and help coordinate resources between these two functional areas to support strategic objectives.

Functional Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Partnerships: Provide input and support to senior leadership in the development and management of joint ventures, affiliations and partnership arrangements. Develop cross-promotional campaigns with other organizations that promote DAN’s Mission, provide additional marketing insight, establish alternative sales channels, increase brand awareness, and develop new business opportunities.
  • Brand & Product Development: Direct the ongoing development of branding initiatives that reinforce both B2C and B2B product offerings in domestic and international markets. Work closely with product teams and sales force to define key selling propositions that will then translate into all sales & marketing materials, member communications, and PR initiatives. Develop and implement cohesive brand and product development strategies that address the needs of target markets and take advantage of new market opportunities. Evaluate existing product and service lifecycles, and determine what changes are necessary to support the organization’s current strategic objectives.
  • Marketing Strategy: Develop marketing plan based on research, competitive analysis, and trends, and manage the resources necessary to help achieve strategic marketing goals and objectives. Maintain an awareness of market conditions in the appropriate market sectors, conduct surveys, and work with Chief Information Officer to identify industry trends for executive decision making, business development, sales scripting & customer service needs. Maintain and expand lead generation across all products and services, and work with IT, sales and membership services teams to determine lead quality, quantity and lifecycle, changing processes and campaigns accordingly.
  • Integrated Communications & Information Management: Oversee and provide direction for the integrated communications and information management divisions. Ensure all communications and IT-related initiatives are coordinated, support DAN’s Mission, assist in achieving strategic marketing objectives, and are an effective expenditure of resources.
  • Field Sales, Industry Relations & Event Management: Oversee management of a growing domestic and international field sales force. Help establish goals for each sales territory, and ensure information about new promotions and products are communicated to all representatives. Oversee the acquisition, placement and tracking of inbound advertising sales. Oversee B2B sales activities, and help develop strategies to promote growth through prospecting and member retention efforts. Attend national and regional shows, as needed, to examine market and connect with representatives and divers.
  • Budget & Resource Management: Forecast and maintain budgets across cross-functional areas to ensure maximum results for financial and human capital available.
  • International Liaison: Oversee strategies for continued growth in Canada and Latin America. In addition, further develop partnerships with the international DAN (IDAN) organizations that will lead to a closer working relationship to more effectively harmonize DAN programs and initiatives around the world.

Requirements:

  • Masters Degree, preferably in business-related field
  • Minimum 10 years of industry experience in information technology and/or marketing-related field.
  • Demonstrated leadership competencies, including strategy development, conceptual thinking, change management, strong written and verbal communication, and problem solving skills.
  • Proven track record of effectively managing multiple priorities/projects.
  • Knowledge and experience in scuba diving industry.
  • Or, an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
