DAN Medical Research
DAN compiles case reports, and includes data from these reports in DAN's annual Report on Decompression Illness, Diving Fatalities and Project Dive Exploration, which is available online to DAN Members at no cost or may be purchased. DAN medics used to capture basic data on diving injuries from calls to the emergency line. In 1987, DAN Medicine started officially collecting injury data using a standardized form. The first version of the Diving Accident Reporting Form (DARF) was created in 1987, revised in 1989 and in 1994 and used through 1997. In 1998, DAN Research became involved in the injury data collection process and the Diving Injury Reporting Form (DIRF) was introduced. Research staff are currently working on the latest version of the data collection form, Scuba Epidemiological Reporting Form (SERF). |
